Critical Systems Engineer (Corporate Real Estate) – leading financial institution

Reporting to the Regional Head of Critical Systems & Engineering Support (CSES) in Hong Kong and to the Hong Kong & China Location Manager in Hong Kong, the Critical Systems Engineer will provide technical and management support for delivery of the CSES Programme in Hong Kong & China. The position will be based in Hong Kong.

The CSES Programme covers the design, construction, operation and maintenance of critical electrical & mechanical systems supporting Data Centres, Trading areas and other business critical systems. 

The primary focus of this position will be to manage the operations of the critical systems in Hong Kong & China while providing support for the whole lifecycle of the critical systems. Close liaison with the IT Department’s Data Centre Operations team and other functions within Corporate Real Estate (CRE) will be required. 

This is an operational role that will involve scheduled after hours work and incident management support, possibly at odd hours.

Responsibilities:

1. Implement & operate the facilities in accordance with the company’s global Critical Systems Operations Standards.
2. Provide incident management support.
3. Carry out design, operation and maintenance audits of the critical systems to ensure statutory compliance and operational availability of the critical systems engineering infrastructure.
4. Undertake the Project Management and successful delivery of critical systems driven projects.
5. Assist with effective financial budgeting and planning.
6. Appoint and manage third party contractors, vendors and consultants as required to execute the workload requirements of the position.
7. Collate and manage critical systems engineering records including asset registers, record drawings, test records, etc.
8. Provide due diligence and landlord discussion for asset management transactions and renewals relating to critical systems.
9. Review engineering design, operation and maintenance documentation and comment on best practice, value engineering, the company’s standards compliance and project delivery.
10. Assist the CSES team with the delivery and management of all engineering matters.

Experience/Skills:

1. Minimum 5 years Design and Operations engineering experience with Critical Systems including data centers and preferably trading floors.
2. Experience within an MNC, preferably within the Banking sector.
3. Familiar with local engineering practice and engineering related laws and regulations.
4. Experience in project and vendor management.
5. Sensitive to and capable of managing all aspects of engineering risk.
6. A creative and lateral thinker being open to new ideas and able to adopt and implement change effectively.
7. Team Player.
8. High ethical standard.
9. Able to manage change and diversity.
10. Computer literate with windows, word, excel and power point. AutoCAD skills an advantage.
11. Experience in a similar role working within the Banking sector would be an advantage.
12. Direct working experience with foreigners an advantage.

Qualifications:

1. A relevant degree (electrical, mechanical or building services).
2. Preferably professionally registered engineer.
3. Lesser qualifications with greater relevant experience will be considered.

Language requirement:

1. Good all round communication skills, in receiving, delivering, and broadcasting information; with good command of local language and English to effectively communicate with both local and international clients, end users, and co-workers  – proficiency in English is a must.
